Events that commonly need coverage

• 5K, 10K, and fun runs
• Charity walks and community race weekends
• Amateur tournaments and sports days (when eligible)
• School or alumni athletic celebrations held at rented facilities
• Obstacle or themed races (disclose activities - underwriting varies)

Participant accident coverage (medical benefits for athletes) is a different product from third-party liability. Clarify with your quote what is included versus optional.

Planning checklist for race insurance

1. Confirm race date, start/finish locations, and any secondary venues (expo, awards party).
2. Estimate registered participants and spectators.
3. Note alcohol at post-race celebrations.
4. Collect insurance requirements from the city/park permit.

6. Deliver the COI to permitting contacts with enough lead time.

Post-race parties and expos

If you host a packet pickup expo, beer garden, or awards party at a separate venue, you may need that location listed or a policy that contemplates multiple locations. Ask during the quote so your certificate matches every site that requires proof of insurance.
